A Special Bond

What a blessing to have such a special bond with this group of my extended family members, many of whom had to travel internationally to attend my daughter’s wedding. Post the wedding celebration in Dec 2019, we went on a one week road trip to Malaysia and the above photo was taken in this place called THE SKY MIRROR.

DECEMBER WEDDINGS

In my extended family circle, weddings of our children had always been held in the last 2 weeks of Dec. This was to make it easier for all our family members who are located in a few different parts of the world to attend, given this period is usually a company shutdown and holiday season. We have had five weddings already in the past 7 years held in Dec !

LOVE WITH KINDNESS

Indeed this is not something to be taken for granted. It took a lot of understanding and compromises from both the groom and bride families to plan the big occasion within such a narrow window.  The planning had to start almost 18 months ahead to secure celebration venue due to year end peak seasonality.

It took even more sacrifices from our international guests, who had to prioritise the weddings above all their Christmas and yearend holiday plans.ty.

Imagine not having a real holiday 5 out of 7 straight years. In fact, there were already signs of fatigue after the 4th wedding in 2018. Some of our international guests had expressed their desire to have a break ☺️.

I am grateful that for my daughter’s wedding, which is the 5th, we again had full attendance ! Indeed a very special bond tested, love with kindness prevail. ❤️

A REAL FUN HOLIDAY TO MAKE UP

Immediately after the wedding and the 2020 New Year count down, we headed off to Malaysia for a week long holiday on 1 Jan 2020.

We hired a mini bus to take us to many places of interest. The Sky Mirror was a great discovery and we all had lots of funny moments trying to have our photos taken. The local guide had a hard time trying to get us together for some fun photo shots. He told us we were the biggest group of the same family he had handled by far.

Food was one of our key highlights though out our trip. The seafood and desert durian chendol were superb.

As you can imagine, it was not easy to coordinate such a big group on a week long holiday.  Of course we had our fair share of disagreements and some frictions along the way. Our deep bond got us through those tensions quickly and we had lots of fun and laughters together !   We ended the trip ready for another upcoming wedding in Dec !

    Lyn,
You are lucky and so are your family members. To be able to put on a ‘showed face’ one minute and relaxed to ‘smiled face’ not long after, it means LOVE among all. A truthful article which I enjoyed reading. ❤️
