Coffee Never Taste So Good

by | Nov 17, 2020 | 14 comments

“Instead of thinking about what you can get out of life all the time, think about what you can give to it.”

When I came across the above quote today, I momentarily had flashback on a common question I heard often on an impending retiree. “So what are you going to do when you retire ? Giving back to society ?”
To be honest, I didn’t know. I just wanted a break and to have more free time to do the things I had always wanted to do, which was travelling around the world. As can imagine, this plan was now turned upside by the current Covid-19 Global Pandemic.

In fact, it has turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I have started a routine which I am beginning to enjoy very much ! Coffee used to be just a shot of caffeine but now simply the aroma of coffee makes the taste so good !

MORNING ROUTINE

Morning routine is kicking off my day with a glass of warm hydrogen water with lemon slices and breakfast is just simply a glass of cold pressed fruit and vegetable juices.

Healthy way to start the day followed by a routine morning walk with Miso. We had explored many different National Parks in the Island. Some days when it rained, our walk would be limited to my condominium  estate.

I never realised that our small island country has so many unspoilt corners and nature parks till now. Grateful to our government who has  made every effort to conserve these areas and kept the limited history of the young City State.

am so pleasantly surprised to see so many different wild animals roaming freely and they are well protected by the National Environment Agency.

I was thrilled to see this huge monitor lizard which I took a video of but can only share a static photo.

I used to live amongst animals growing up during the young Kampong days but now it had become a rare sight.

I simply love the birds and this pair of monkeys, who took my attention as they tried to snatch my snack during my break. The morning would  normally end with a cup of Nespresso coffee and the newspaper before I prepare a simple lunch.

MY AFTERNOON WORKING CORNER

Well yes, I am still “working” on all sort of affairs.

My blog, daily tweets, my consulting work for an overseas client, some occasional research on my investments, watching u-tubers vlog to get travel ideas to prepare for my next phase.

All done with another cup of afternoon coffee.

Feeling so blessed to be able to finally do things at my pace and discovering so much along the way.

And as I reflect again about the giving back, I became more clear now that there are so many ways of giving back in life. Keeping a healthy and mindfulness lifestyle is a great start to build peace and happiness, and hence spread that little kindness to those around us.

Hi Lyn, I wish that I can retire soon. Thank for sharing of your life .
After reading your blog, I feel that you have planned so well for your retirement.
Coffee does taste sweet & bitter depending how you roast the beans. You planned very well for your retirement so you can smell the aroma of the coffee.
    Love,

    Lyn,
You have healthy breakfast. For me, I must start my day with a small mug of coffee, sometime with a biscuit and other time with a slice of bread like right at this moment.

I have no dog to walk with me but, walking alone was so far as pleasant and beautiful. I had a fall and in door for almost 8 days. This morning it is freezing cold in London and snow is forecasted for next few days. After reading your blog, I encourage myself to smile, be happy, go outside, explore and make memories-may be to be greeted by a deer or two. Most important to free my mind and open my eyes to beauties which are lining ahead of me. Bye for now. Nxx❤️

    Lyn,
My first memory of the Aroma of fresh ground coffee. When I was a little girl, I knew it was time to wake up when the strong aroma of ground coffee floated from ground floor kitchen to our bedroom. I knew my mum would be in the kitchen and my ‘Ah Hyai’-elder cousin would arrive soon for his breakfast and short briefing from my dad about things to do in our farms. For me, it would be time to wash, dress in school uniform and left home to walk to school.
