On A Jet Plane To India

by | Nov 13, 2020 | 14 comments

I used to fly around a lot for work and my schedules were always planned with the last flight in and first flight out. So I had not really seen places nor deeply understood any local cultures of the many countries I visited.

In one of my most recent business trips to India, I decided to extend my stay into the weekend to explore India.  I invited my sisters to join me for that short vacation as they had never been to India before.

So here we went, on the jet plane to India and that was where our fun and adventure began !

CHAOTIC OLD DELHI

We had only three days to cover the Golden Triangle of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. So we prioritised Old Delhi as our first stop. Old Delhi is the oldest area in Delhi and we were more interested to experience the real local culture and food, then the historic monuments.

The area could only be accessed by two wheeler,  trishaw or by foot and the entire place was jam packed with people. We got totally excited in the chaos. There were cows on the street and in India, cows are sacred and untouchables. Power cables criss crossing all over and hanging loose. At the alleyway, there were rows and rows of shops that sold a wide variety of things. From groceries, clothes, jewelleries and spices. It was also well known for its street food.

To our surprise, there were more locals then tourists and we got our fair share of stares as we were quite noisy with our loud voices of excitement.

BEST INDIAN STREET FOOD –

We had our best Indian Curry with Roti. There were many shops selling almost similar things and we just flowed along to one that was the most crowded !

BOLLYWOOD-STYLE LIVE STAGE MUSICAL

We ended the day watching a Bollywood-style Live stage musical at Kingdom of Dreams. Although it was in Hindi, we thoroughly enjoyed the vibrant dances, colourful costumes and the Hindi music !

My local colleagues explained to us the storyline and that made it even more engaging and enjoyable.

A great way to close our day in Delhi.

TAJ MAHAL IN AGRA

On the way to Agra, it was a common sight to see trucks and motorbikes overflowed with people.  We passed these two and Mimi could not resist but quickly took photos of both the front and back view. It was a three hours ride on the road and we just felt so thankful to be in our comfortable car.

Taj Mahal Signature Post

Taj Mahal was awesome. We remain amazed till today, how such a perfect structure was built more then 500 years ago without the help of any technology but by sheer human effort. We left Taj Mahal late afternoon to head for Jaipur. It was another 3 hours car ride.

Special Greetings : Hello, stay COOL and Be Happy. LIKE XOXO

JAIPUR THE PINK CITY

Hawa Mahal

The moment we arrived, we immediately understood why Jaipur is called the Pink City. All buildings were painted pink, with few exceptions.

The famous landmark Hawa Mahal was right in front of a very busy street.

Jaipur was such an interesting city. There were so much to do with so little time. We managed to visit two landmark historic palaces, street shopping, visited the market, shopped jewellery and even managed to consult a fortune teller, which was the highlight of the trip !  All done within a day.

We took a late evening domestic flight back to Delhi to catch a connecting international flight back to our home country. My sisters Elise, Mimi and Lisa were originally hesitant about visiting India but left the trip with such positive impressions that they even wanted me to plan the next one !

We learnt a little reminder that happiness are with people who are content with what they have and make the best of life. We saw this throughout our trip in India. So much smiles everywhere despite their poor living conditions.

We left India feeling blessed and grateful for a smooth and peaceful trip !

Thanks for the good memory!! Without you, this India trip would never have happened in my life.. I would have missed out on a lot of fun. I had learnt about India culture and their lifestyle, especially the old Delhi and New Delhi. It was an amazing world of difference.

Thank you for giving up your business class seat for me to enjoy 5hrs of the journey. This showed that you are so generous and have a big heart.
