The Way Of Peace

Learning from the Past and be Thankful for the Present. When I decided on this blog tagline, I know it is not going to be an easy journey to put this in practice. I am sure it is the same with many of you. It does take a lot of commitment and hard work, and the choice is ours to make. How thankful I am to be able to take the time now to reflect on my journey and keep learning. Still learning how to cultivate a peaceful nature and attain peace of mind.

I took the above photo during one of my daily walks at the Botanic Gardens. Like the beautiful lotus flowers, without mud they cannot grow. Life offers us the opportunity to learn and evolve and without life lessons, we cannot grow.

TOO MUCH ON OUR MINDS

It was never easy being a working mother with 3 kids.  I was travelling a lot and always too busy to have a rested and clear mind.

I am sure it is a common feeling amongst working mothers to feel guilty when they could not spend enough time with their children. I went through this feeling often and it did not help much when I saw myself not being able to be there for the children when they most needed me.

Worse still, at days when I was under tremendous work pressure and stress from bosses, my patience would run thin and lost my cool.

Peace was so difficult to uphold, and it still is. There were still occasions when I had a troubled and wandering mind, peace seemed a distant away. I am still learning hard on how to subdue my mind and discipline myself to cultivate a peaceful nature and attain peace of mind.

FINDING MY QUIET MOMENTS

Since my retirement, I have started a routine walk with my dog Miso. We have explored many different parks across the island.

I never knew I could experience so much peace and tap so much positive energy just enjoying the simple walk. I have discovered so much nature beauty which I have never taken notice of till now.

I began to understand what it means to have a rested and clear mind. I started my meditation routine to find peace and see more beauty in the things I have taken for granted for too long.

So this is the beginning of my new life journey post retirement. I hope you all can journey with me to cultivate the habits that will lead us to peace, to become a true gentle being, a fearless yet loving being.
