Every Change Has Its Beauty

Have you ever been caught in a life’s change that have you thrown off balance completely ?

Most of us would have heard the phrase “change is the only constant”, and I was very familiar with such a phrase in the corporate world. But truly how many of us are ready to face up with major life changes and deal with them…

It took me a long while to start to perceive the usefulness of changes in life for self-growth. How to live meaningfully, using my own life’s changes, to understand the deeper purpose of life and why there must be changes.

I just learnt recently that one of my distant relatives was unexpectedly retrenched a year ago. He was a very successful executive in a global corporation, financially very comfortable and was nearing his official retirement age. He could not face up to the sudden change and fell into a deep depression.

In contrast, there was a recent article in “Today Gen-Y-Speaks” regarding a world-renowned opera conductor now a food delivery rider. Link here for his original storyHe faced up to his life changes, accepted it and decided to do something useful in the meantime. His story has been shared widely and is now an inspiration to many.

To Learn And Embrace Change

Our life matters and it is up to us to want to learn and embrace changes. If we are unwilling to face up with our own life changes, we suffer greatly and often cannot progress in life. Our minds would be like broken records whining about the past and there will be no peace.

Few steps I find useful in my practice:

1. It is important to pay attention to all the little deeds we indulge in each day since they can harden themselves into habits and affect our outlook of life.

Every life changes, big or small, is an opportunity to learn and grow.

2. Transform our thinking : say YES, life is for us to learn and grow. Reference to my earlier post titled “We Create Our Own Destiny”, it starts with our thoughts that would condition our way of living.

Find your own inner strength of well being and peace, elevate your consciousness.

3. Don’t be discouraged : It is a lifelong journey and it is absolutely not easy. Let me quote what one of my readers who commented in one of my recent posts: “.. it is like building muscles.. “ It takes time and continued effort to develop and sustain.

We must always be ready to face changes, live with changes and learn from changes, all these are part and parcel of upgrading human consciousness so that we can experience self-growth. Our self growth is important to us being happy and peaceful.

You will be most surprised to find within your inner self a sense of well-being and inner peace, the effect of your own transformation.

Well done lyn. My daughter has just resigned from her corporate job. After many years of thinking for a change. At last she has the courage to make that big move. Not an easy step for her and I can feel she is happy..

Great article! So many insights from the comments…

Change is I see is the great irony of life.

We human beings are not naturally receptive & love familiarity, our systems, our maintenance of routines, the status quo and so on. It gives us a measure of certainty and comfort.

Yet, we cannot do without change.
Sometimes, “resistance is futile”, and can make the change even more unbearable.

Sometimes, stopping to take a breather and smell the flowers is also a good change. And like the Chinese saying goes : 休息是为了走更长的路。(resting now so that we can walk further) …always stay positive

Lyn I’m inspired by your article every change has its beauty and help me learn how to embrace change. Agree changes help us growth and get through life. However many of us hate change, get scare and cannot accept changes. But we are always changing cos progress is impossible without change.
