Be In The Now, Enjoy Its Beauty

Is your mind always ticking non-stop, and as crowded and busy as this sea port causing you to be unaware of what’s really happening to you and around you ? How do you become more aware and mindful of the present moment, and enjoy its beauty…

I dare say most of us have had experienced living with issues of the past and/or keep worrying about the future; leaving our minds to be filled with anxiety, anger, regrets, worry and unhappiness etc… With a very crowded and sometimes confused mind, we can easily lose touch with the present moment.

All happy and successful people handle life by being in the present; they deal with the now, the present moment that is the most important moment of their lives. The power of being present each moment gives them the advantage of staying connected with their own inner being to handle life with more resilience and abilities.

I am so happy to reconnect myself again this week with a simple fifteen minutes awareness meditation, after my routine was interrupted since early March.

Well, it certainly was not easy at first ! Your mind would be so preoccupied with so many different thoughts and they kept flashing back and forth whenever you try to focus.

How Do We Silence Our Mind

Instead of worrying about how to meditate, just sit still with patience, and follow the 6 steps below which I find very useful. Soon, the mind will quiet down on its own accord.

A View From My Regular Spot

1.  Find a regular spot.

2. Just sit upright with the right posture.

3. Close your eyes and concentrate your attention on the tip of the nostril.

4. Gentle breathing in, breathing out.

5. If thoughts come, let it come and go but do not engage with it, keep focusing on your breathing.

6.  Slowly your mind becomes quieted, stay aware of your breathing in and out.

Being a beginner, I find this simple method very powerful in helping me silence my mind. When our mind is clearer, we become more aware and mindful of the present moment.

Of course there are many methods of meditation that can help you become more aware and mindful, but I find the above 6 steps very effective, especially for a beginner. By doing this again and again, I believe a day will soon come when you would find sitting still becomes extremely simple.

May you also discover the wonderful power that lies hidden in being still and silent so that you can enjoy the beauty of being in the present at all times.

Well said Lyn, Do not dwell in the past and future. Concentrate the mind on the present can transform our perspective on life and get rid of our worries and problems. Furthermore, we can have plenty of time to do what we want to do if we stay in the present moment e.g. live well be happy now by having positive thoughts and practice mindfulness. Don’t take life for granted. Learn to enjoy the beauty in life, stay beautiful and strong. I have tried your 6 steps simple meditation practice. The easiest and an effective way to meditate. Focusing on natural breathing helps me to maintain a calm mind and sense of inner peace. It also helps to improve deeper relaxation and less stress. Thank u Lyn. Will continue to practice as long as I can.

    Lyn,
Thank you for sharing your simple 6 steps of perfecting self mindfulness meditation. Good you can help those who need or want to be help.

The sky has no limit for kindness awareness and that has to be develop from knowing self and kindness. Life is brighter if one knows how to give oneself the precious silence moment. When people quote and say: ‘charity begins from home’, they also meant be kind to yourself, know yourself, help yourself, before you stretch your arms out to help others and know others. Everyday, I am still learning to feel the deeper silence, listening to my breathes of air.

I enjoyed reading your well written article. Thank you . Xx

Thank you Spring for your kind comments ! Absolutely agree the importance of being self aware and kind to yourself.
If you can understand your own body, feeling and emotions and treat them with compassion, you will have the power to heal your feelings and suffer less. Then your help to others will be motivated by the energy of compassion so that they suffer less. So happy that you are enjoying my article ❤️

Many times I feel life is rushed – to fulfill responsibilities and priorities. Don’t do often enough to still the mind. Great tips! Will definitely practice! Thanks for sharing!

Yes when we get busy, it is very easy to get carried away unless we put in conscious effort to take time off and quiet our mind. Wish you my very best as you get started and try the simple 6 steps… it will not be easy for a start, do not give up but keep sitting and it will get easier with time.

In this busy life, if we can’t live in the “Now” we won’t be able to enjoy it.. Very good advice.
