Developing Good Affinity With People Enhances Your Happiness

Do you find that we sometimes come across people whom we are attracted to and others whom we avoid ? And I am not talking about facial looks here…

We can be attracted to people on a first impression because of their pleasing look but when you interact with them, their inner ugliness could show up as reflected by their speech and actions. Likewise, one who may not be as pleasing in look could attract with his or her great personality and inner beauty.

How we conduct ourselves and our behaviours would reflect on our personalities. I have seen many examples of bad behaviours that make one disliked by others, so be mindful so that we do not practise them.

Reflect On These Behaviours And Avoid

1. The moody ones who demand attention all the time or fall into ugly moods easily. Their faces would reveal every change of their feelings.

2. The negative ones who complain all the time or have a bad habit of speaking ill of others quite naturally. Such bad qualities will repel others.

3. The quarrelsome ones who cannot remain calm whenever someone criticises. Biggest hurdle is not knowing their blindspot.

4. The clever ones who always must have the last say or show no respect to others opinions. This ego will certainly repel others.

Develop On These Qualities And Practise

We have the ability to develop and improve our affinity with others by developing these qualities:

1. Be genuine in one’s feelings, be thoughtful and sincere at all times and to be interested in the feelings and well-being of others so that those about you will feel wanted and loved.

2. Practise consideration in your speech and actions – the keys to developing attractiveness. No one likes to hear harsh words nor does anyone enjoy being forced to accept your opinions.

3. Practise thoughtfulness, be what you expect others to be. Be kind, humble, pleasing in speech and actions, be gentle, be aware of the feelings of others and you will soon become a magnet that draws others to you.

I know of many very successful people who have great personalities and they are often attracting the love, friendship and support of many others who would help them get there.

      Lyn,
I enjoyed reading your post. Thank you.

This chinese proverb just popped into my mind while reading your post :
      酒逢知己千杯少 话不投机半句多。
For a congenial friend a thousand toasts are too few; in a disagreeable conversation one word more is too many

      Cheers,
      Kim

Hi Lyn great article. It is sad but true that relationship deteriorate cos of our bad behaviour. So what have I learned. Developing good affinity with others encourage healthy behaviour, improve our well being and give us a stronger sense of purpose. So what does it take to build true and meaningful relationships with people. E.g. building trust is always essential, listen to others’ points of view, focus on other’s interests than yours, observe our behaviour in a positive way, happy for a friend’s happiness without jealousy or resentment,

Yes so true, we tend to be careless when we are very stressed out, especially aggravated in the challenging work from home Covid19 environment. Take care Suat !
