Have I Grown Since I Started My Blog: A Reflection…

by | Sep 3, 2021 | 28 comments

Why do I blog and what is my purpose ? It has been exactly 10 months now since I launched my blog and released my 1st article…The Beginning… with 48 articles to date.

This past week has been emotional for me, as I paused and reflected on my blog. As I re-read all of my past articles, including my readers’ comments, I felt a deep sense of gratitude.

I am so grateful to be able to spend time with myself, to reflect on the little moments of life and share these life’s experiences in writing. There is so much I have learnt in the process and there are three specific areas which I would constantly remind myself to stay grounded on:

1. Staying True To My Purpose

My blog is for my personal growth and it is based on the foundation of learning from the past and to be thankful for the present. As I learn to enjoy and value each day with gratitude and kindness, writing is a way for me to pause and reflect; and act on areas where I can keep improving on. It is my hope that by my simple sharing of my life’s journey in my blog, I can bring some joy and inspiration to the hearts of my readers 🌻😊.

2. Staying Authentic And Relevant

When I first started, one of my earlier struggles was how transparent I should be… To be authentic and relevant without going into too much personal detail was a fine balance. I am slowly finding my balance, it is the essence of my life’s experiential learnings and most importantly is to share with a genuine heart and pure intention.

3. There Will Always Be Skeptics

Human beings are all different and not everyone would be able to relate to everything I share. There will always be skeptics out there and I am learning to accept this fact and not to be distracted by them. It has been quite a journey as I deepen my self-confidence, treading into a brand new space, staying grounded with my purpose and belief.

My Reflections

After 10 months of blogging and re-reading my 48 articles, I have grown to be more at peace with myself, my heart is gentler and I feel happier. I have discovered the following experiences:

  • In interacting with people around me, I am more likely to move away from being judgmental and be more open-hearted. I am more ready to listen with a heart that understands and more able to express with deeper kindness and even compassion.

  • In facing different life situations, I am more able to deal with negative situations honestly and face it with courage. I am more calm and less reactive, hence less likely to make silly mistakes.

  • In doing volunteer work, I have gained a fresh perspective that it is not me helping others but them helping me to understand myself better. I am now more sensitive to the needs of others and ready to extend help more spontaneously.

I am also very grateful to all my readers’ for their support and encouragement. For those who took the time to comment, your simple authentic exchanges of views and thoughts are so valuable, thank you for being a part of my blog journey of learnings.

Lyn 🌻😊

Dear Lyn, I want to express my gratitude to you for getting me to pick up reading. I hate reading since young and have been avoiding it. When I started following your blog recently, I told myself that I must be discipline and at least get myself started with your easy to read yet powerful articles. I’m still catching up with your 48 articles in chronological order. One that leaves me the deepest impression is about your father. He’s truly amazing and inspiring! Keep writing as you have definitely overachieved your purpose and I’ll keep reading. Thank you!
