Good Heart Matters #5

The love and joy of friendships and relationships is so immeasurable, but also the pain and suffering. Throughout our journey in life, from birth to death, every step requires us to interact with another human being.

Inevitable Human Connections

As a growing up young student, we have a tendency to seek ‘approval’ from friends and would flow along to do what they want so that we can ‘bond’ with them. Some could become BFF (Best Friends Forever) while others you would never see again once you leave school.

As a mature student in junior college or university, we get attracted to one of opposite sex and many boy-girl-relationship are formed. Suddenly, their lives revolve around one another but soon, they would run into conflict. Some survive while others eventually break off.

As a working adult, it is colleague relationships and sometimes office politics that determines our overall work life experience. One’s ability to navigate office politics and influence cross group relationships would determine the broader performance beyond self. Some progress to become successful leaders while others crumble.

As a married couple, this can be the most tested lifelong relationship commitment. Disagreements during the ‘honeymoon period’ would usually be sorted out with ease but when this period is over, suddenly everything seems impossible or much more difficult to reconcile. Some couples thrive while others end in divorce.

As a parent, relationships with our children are most important and sealed with the most pure love and intention. This bond is unbreakable. It is most rewarding and also the most painful when things go wrong. Adjusting to each individual child’s uniquely different personality and behaviour is crucial but sometimes can be perceived as being biased.

Good Heart Matters

Human relationships are so complex but yet so critically important as we cannot live a life without it. Many of us, perhaps most people, struggle with all kinds of relationship problems at different stages in our life. It may be very normal to experience relationship pain and suffering, but how many of us can truly handle it with grace and come out of it stronger each time?

Memory of experience is the only thing which can bring wisdom to us… we must not throw away the many valuable lifetime experiences and must remember these lessons for life. If we ignore it, it will grow again. We tend to take things for granted when all is going well, and would forget about our past crises till similar experiences hit us again!

One common human trait is the tendency to find fault with others and blame them when things go wrong or not in accordance with our way. But if we think deep enough, no one normal human being would harbor an inner desire to intentionally create an unhappy situation or a negative reaction.

Develop love and pity in our heart, we will at once become a beautiful person and friend to all…it is our good and gentle heart that gives us the strength and courage to remember lessons of life and make us a better person. So good heart matters!

    Lyn,
An interesting article which allows me to express LOVE in my heart.

As a daughter, I learnt my love is to respect and to listen.
As a sibling, I learnt my love is to respect and to listen.
As a student, I learnt my love is to respect and listen.
As a friend, I learnt my love is to respect and to listen.
As a wife, I learnt my love is to respect and to listen.
This life, I will not have experience as a parent. A friend taught me to say: last life I had too many children and this life I am taking a rest.
With time in hands, I learnt and still learning to develop LOVE, give LOVE and return LOVE. Without Love, including respect, for oneself, for others and from others, life is worthless. With LOVE one grows to help oneself and others.

Human relationship is complex to deal with because we all have different opinions and personalities. We need to learn to accept each other, forgive and forget, adapt and make compromises to make any relationship work.

Human connection in the present moment. Therefore we call ourselves human begin and not human doing. Good hearts matters in the form of caring for each other.
