Smiles!

An authentic smile can go a long way in making both yours and someone’s day great!

This cover photo was a postcard given by my ex-secretary when she relocated to HongKong more than 10 years ago. I came across it again during my recent spring cleaning in preparation for Lunar New year.

I smiled, as I reflect… Could she have thought that I was not smiling enough and that this simple gift card was meant to be a subtle reminder for me to smile more? Well, back then, this cheerful card had certainly brought a huge momentary smile to my face and made my day, that was it… I had no further thoughts beyond.

Behind Those Smiles …

So why am I now thinking that there might be a subtle indirect message for me to smile more 😊

Indeed back then, my office staff and colleagues could almost read my mood like a book. Good or bad news, they could immediately see it through my facial expression. Afterall, how could one smile on a bad day, right? I was so overly focused on delivering work performance that I often overlooked and was not sensitive to the human elements of feelings.

Now, I have observed people who seem to always have calm and peaceful energies in them…no matter how stressful the situation and environment might be, they could still break into a lovely smile to greet whoever they are seeing and would use kind and caring words to those they are speaking to.

Behind those smiles is a kind and caring heart, and it is this kindness that can help bring warmth in the smiles.

Smile More !

Since a day is filled with opportunities to meet people more than anything else, a warm and friendly smile can make a bad day better and a good day great !

> Smile to show that you care…

> Smile to say that you understand…

> Smile to express your forgiveness…

> Smile to give your consent or encouragement…

> Smile to let others know that there is always love in your heart for them…

> Smile to bring peace and hope to the troubled hearts…

I am still learning to smile more and to keep on smiling as my way of showing gratitude to life for all the opportunities of learning and growth.

Yes, keep smiling. One day it would be so natural that we didn’t even know we were smiling till someone commented: “Oh, you have such a sweet smile!”
