In Time Of Crisis – What Matters ?

GoodHeartMatters #7

Overnight, all hopes are turned into a complete sense of hopelessness; and whatever something they once had has turned into nothing, families; jobs; homes…this is catastrophic, to say the least.

Many people around the world have stepped up to extend prayers; financial donations; virtual and moral support…and many neighbouring European countries, if not all, have extended humanitarian aid to the one million Ukrainian refugees thus far.

But, can one truly understand and feel the deep sufferings of the Ukrainian refugees and the family they left behind unless one has gone through a similar experience? I could not…

It is a very sad situation and like many others, I could only empathise, pray for the war to deescalate and donate to help. Not until a friend’s trigger that got me to ponder more deeply.

Every Positive Action Matters !

He is extremely saddened and emotionally impacted by what is happening in Ukraine; he was appealing to me to donate and to help spread the word for donations; he was taking concrete actions to maximise help…He is convinced that every possible action, however small the impact, matters!

So I spread the word. No pressure, just a gentle reminder to help with This link to Red Cross  donation drive. I was not expecting many to respond as I thought most people who wanted to donate would have donated since the news is all over.

How wrong I was, many responded positively! Well, maybe they would still have donated, just not yet…but what if they were too busy and have overlooked?

Every Life’s Experience Matters !

I started thinking more deeply.. What if I suddenly lose everything overnight ? I cannot even imagine that pain… What if my loved ones were trapped in a catastrophic situation, my actions would have been very different… The “what if…” scenario keeps playing in my head.

Many of us would take so many things for granted, and especially when things are going well. We can have 100 good things going our way without noticing them but immediately react to one wrong thing that happens and get really upset by it.

This war has shocked the world, no one wishes for it to happen. If life is indeed so unpredictable, anything can happen and nothing is of permanence, will I ever be prepared for whatever crisis that could come my way at any point in time?

Well I do not know but for now, I am reminded once again to count my blessings and to be prepared to experience some suffering as they can help me understand what they are for others, and how precious it is, to know how to help them.

Every Good Heart Matters !

Many around the world has step up to help the Ukrainians. It is the good heart attitude of these people who care so much for even distant strangers, and their kind effort in contributing to donation drives and humanitarian actions is already helping to bring the light of love and hope to those feeling helpless, and this matters!

    Lyn,
Thanks for sharing. My heart cracks for those innocent victims of war. Seeing images of the citizen of Ukriane leaving their home and country to be safe in a foreign land, reminded me of the story of my grandparents whom I never met, who had to leave their home urgently, walked miles through jungles with a 12 year old daughter and a 3 year old son, boarded a small boat to Singapore for survivor. I often said that I am lucky not to be caught in a war during my lifetime and I do hope it continues that way. Being lucky so far, I am able to help and contribute in my own way. Peace be in thy world

Thank you for sharing the donation link again. We should not take the peace and our sovereignty for granted. I imagine if we are the ones in Ukraine’s shoes, who will come to our help? We will also hope many around the world will help us and our families.

Thank you for sharing a way I can take action today.
