Travel Again… Finally !

Oh Yay, finally I am travelling again, after 2 long years! This one is especially sweet as it would be my first trip since leaving my corporate job 😊

Well, the fact is Covid Vaccinated Travel Lanes (VTL) have opened up for at least 6 months now but I have resisted travel till now for many different reasons.

My destination: Australia Gold Coast..it is almost like my second home. Home is where Love is and I am so looking forward to spending time with my extended family there.

Covid Travel

But seriously, travelling under Covid conditions is really unlike before, too many processes to handle. Doubled down by the fact I was so spoiled in the past when all my travels were arranged by my super capable assistant, I just needed to pack and go on the day of departure itself.

Flight bookings on VTL; Notarised Vaccination certificate; Visa application; travel insurance; pre-departure Rapid Antigen Test (Note: effective Apr 17 Australia will be opening up with no pre-departure test needed, I just missed the window by 10 days).

And when you did not have to do too many administrative things yourself before, every step now just seems like a big huddle 😅There is a mental block immediately that it was too difficult, even if it was not.

As I discovered, it is actually quite simple, every single piece of information and guidance is online. You cannot miss it as long as you put an effort to check it out and just follow the steps.

Get Going…Independently

My learning – Always try to do most things yourself, even if you have a capable assistant. Or at least be not ignorant of the process and understand the effort she has to put in to get everything organised! This truly applies to so many things in life.

And if I am being honest, I struggle a bit to adjust and improve on my discipline to get things done as independently as possible. Inevitably, I still have the tendency to fall back the easy way by just asking for my daughters’ help, they are so much faster and more efficient in so many ways.

But one of the best way to keep my brain active and healthy is to keep learning new things, even if it takes a little longer. It is so important to develop the right attitude with good discipline and independence, it will certainly help you in your later years. I am slowly adjusting and reinforcing my discipline to do things independently.. with the mantra to try first before you ask for help.

Whatever it is, I am extremely grateful to be able to travel again and I plan to share more of my travel experiences here, so do look out for my travel series 😎!

    Exciting Lyn,
The proverb ‘Ignorance is bliss’ no longer applies. During the Covid19 Locked down, many older people had learnt to order medicine, grocery on line because they lived alone. I have a 85 year old friend who is still attending university courses on line and in many languages. I have been trying to follow her educational footsteps for last 3 years and still haven’t get on line to register for a course. Never too late to learn.
    Pleasant holiday. Springxx
