A major weather warning is in place for Australia with some parts of the country to be lashed by a month’s worth of rain during the next 10 days.
While Australia experienced its second driest May on record, the first fortnight of June will see a downpour for about half the country.
Two rain-bearing weather systems will soak a broad area of south western, southern, south eastern and eastern Australia during the next seven to ten days.

The Western Australian capital is forecast to receive 7-15 mm of rain on Sunday, 15-35mm on Monday and up to 20mm of rainfall on Tuesday.
Wednesday will also be marked by intermittent showers which are due to round off by the end of the week.
‘Perth is poised to see the heaviest rain in around two months, if not more,’ Sky News Weather meteorologist Alison Osborne said.
Ms Osborne added the ‘widespread rain’ developed in central Australia on Saturday and will likely continue as it pushes towards the east coast.
The second weather system – an upper-level trough with its strong cold front and low pressure system – will cross the southern half of Western Australia bringing rain, storms, powerful winds and possible hail on Monday and Tuesday.
Southern Australia will also face its share of wet weather, with the systems expected to move east by the middle of the week.
Inland NSW will be lashed by ‘a month’s rainfall’, with around 15mm of rain predicted for Parkes on Monday, 20mm for Condobolin on Thursday and Cobar forecast to get 30mm on Monday and then 20mm on Friday

Showers and thunderstorms are expected over central Australia on Sunday, with rain set to lash south eastern Australia from Monday.
Light showers are expected at the start of the week in Adelaide but could develop into heavier downpours with 6mm to 25mm of rain forecast for Wednesday.
Thursday could also bring possible showers with about 7mm of rain expected to fall.
Ms Osborne said by Thursday, inland New South Wales will be lashed by ‘a month’s rainfall’.
Around 15mm of rain is predicted for Parkes on Monday, Condobolin could see 20mm on Thursday and Cobar is forecast to get 30mm on Monday and then another bought of rain on Friday with up to 20mm of rainfall.
Sydney could see a possible shower or two over Sunday to Tuesday, with Thursday expected to be the wettest day.
A few showers are forecast to hit Melbourne on Tuesday and Wednesday with heavier falls on Thursday.
Sunday and Monday should remain dry in Canberra with heavy downpours expected from the middle of the week.
Tuesday could see up to 5mm of rain, a shower on Wednesday, before the city is drenched with a possible 20mm of rain on Thursday.
While parts of the country will be drenched by rain, the week will be sunny and dry in Darwin with temperatures reaching a balmy high of 31C.
