Tapping On Nature’s Beauty And Energy…

One way to recharge your body, mind and soul is to tap on nature’s beauty and energy. Since I published my first walk blog with The Walkers ,I cannot be more grateful to The Walkers group, with whom I have enjoyed many more weekly nature walks.

If not for Covid limited travel and The Walkers, I probably would not have discovered so many beautiful nature parks and hiking trails in Singapore.

From the very unnatural Bukit Brown, to the recently discovered “Lost Ark” at the Green Corridor; to rustic Thomson Nature Park, to adventure Mandai T15 trail; to city Jurong Lake Gardens, to beautiful Punggol Coastal Walk and into Chestnut Nature Park. And of course Seletar and MacRitchie Reservoir.

There are still many to be excited for but as I will be taking a break from The Walkers due to my travel in the next few months, what best way but to capture the wonderful memories of our walk and the joy of the great company in the photos below.

These are just glimpses and if you are interested to explore any of these places and how to get there, the following hiking trail apps https://apps.apple.com/sg/app/alltrails-hike-run-cycle/id405075943 can be very helpful.

Bukit Brown – Largest cemetery in Singapore where it has a lot of history. Because of my own superstition, I had avoided taking any photos of the cemetery tombstones, except for one subtle shot @ bottom left corner in the photo above.  I was pleasantly surprised to see horses along the way.

MacRitchie Reservoir – the oldest reservoir in Singapore and 11-kilometre nature trail loop. Fond memories flashback of student cross country races in the 70s where this was the place for all schools student cross-country training and competition.

The Lost Ark – recently discovered and still a mystery to many. The path to the ark place is not as structured as yet and the blue marker is an entrance guide to find the place. Love those La Lang that brings back many fond childhood kampong memories.

Thomson Nature Park – Love the rustic feel all over and we even manage to capture a live giant millipede.

Tree Top – We could not stay on the bridge for too long as there was a queue of people waiting to get on but it was worth the visit, especially not just for the bridge but the walk back was very pleasant.

Mandai PCN – The bottom left photo, this is the location where it is best known for capturing a beautiful sunrise but the sky was too cloudy that morning.

Seletar Reservoir – Very serene and scenic walk.

Mandai T15 – we came back again hoping to capture the sunrise but the sky remained very cloudy. Notice the Tornado shaped cloud ? Fortunately there was no rain. Love the charm of its back to adventure vibes leading to Chestnut Northern Loop.

Jurong Lake Gardens – is Singapore’s new national gardens in the heartlands, with 90-hectare Gardens. The walk was not as shady but very vibrant with many activities, fishing, cycling and photography.

Punggol Coastal Walk which is one of the most scenic walks and was once a popular seafood hunt.

Coney Island – pretty path of “autumn leaves” at the entrance but major part of the island was closed, so did not manage to capture too much.

Chestnut Nature Park – which is a very popular amongst mountain bikers and hikers, especially on a weekend. Many long and rocky roads, many paths with withered leaves. One the best walks, very shady and love the rustic charm and nature vibes.

Lovely unique leaves, captured mostly by one of The Walkers group member who has a passion for leaves and a sharp eye to spot one in almost every walk.

    Wow Lyn,
Thank you for sharing the charming nature of Singapore. Please can you take me there and walk with me when I am next in Singapore. Today, I walked in our local Isabella Plantation, Richmond Park. Nature seems to be a month ahead due to climate change, daffodils and magnolias blooming and fading away at in short time. Our Spring began last Sunday but, we have sunshine, snowflakes, hailstones, raindrops and strong wind all being experienced within an hour this afternoon. Enjoy your holiday and look forward to reading all about your exploration afar. Much love, Springxx

I love Richmond Park and looking forward to walking there again in Jul, and what a great idea to walk the Singapore Parks together when you are back ❤️! Oh my goodness, 4 weather seasons within an hour… global warming impact is becoming visibly obvious in recent years… here in Asia too, unprecedented flood from unusually heavy rainfall. Take care Spring, see you soon ❤️

Yes indeed Singapore National Park has done such a wonderful job in up-keeping the nature and connecting all with PCN paths. Two other parks I have walked but did not mention here are Windsor Nature Park and Dairy Farm. They are wonderful walk with a deep history.
